About me
My life actually consist of two worlds, that happen to intermingle from time to time: my huge passion – music and my profession and calling – software development. I invested a lot of time and payed attention to both of them alternatingly and often it’s hard to balance the weigths.
I was born on March 24th, 1983 in Forst / Lausitz that’s located in south east Brandenburg, Germany. I inherited loving music from my father probably who was working as “record entertainer” (that’s how it was officially called then) in former German Democratic Republic. I got interested in music and computer technology in early school already. I explored the Commodore C64 that was given to my at my 4th birthday deeply down into its circuits and wrote a MS-DOS emulator for the “Brotkasten” in 7th grade to at least get the feeling of using a PC, my cousin has bought just then. I also took my first steps in music at this age. The 11th to 13th grade I’ve mostly been busy with music instead of school, causing a little sorrow to my parents and teachers.
After starting to study Medieninformatik in Dresden, crazy times began. Actually music was the primary thing I focused on instead of studying. Not that was bored by studying, I just have been torn between both worlds.
After my application at the Popakademie I moved to Mannheim. I really felt I had to realign – both personally and musically. It seemed to me, that I had to break existing structures to move on. So I switched university to study Software- and Internettechnology at the University of Mannheim.
After settling and a few failed musical attempts I’ve found a new home in drumming for Four Sided Cube, an alternative rock band from Ladenburg. Alongside I produce songs for other artists and hope to finish my still unborn baby Barfuss this year.
Four Sided Cube have released their 4th record simply named 4 at in their 10th anniversary year. After finishing studies last year I started continued working at the company where I already started working a long time before: bitExpert. I got the chance to lead first small projects, experimenting with various technologies.
In February 2007 I took the next step and started working for Synyx, a software company located in Karlsruhe. We primarily focus on Java applications of any kind: client / server, mobile, web. I am particularly addicted to code quality assurance methods, agile development processes and Java enterprise systems with Spring.
