Hades News – Conferences 2009 / Article

TSSJS 2009 LogoDevoxx 2009

I just want to announce that I am going to speak about Hades at Devoxx and The Server Side Java Symposium this year. The TSSJS takes place in Prague (Czech Republic) from Oct. 27th to 28th whereas Devoxx will be held between Nov. 16th and  20th in Antwerp (Beligum). I am thrilled by the list of speakers I can share the opportunity to speak with and really look forward to the events. Feel free to say hello and communicate opinions and ideas personally.

In addition to the small promo tour we do in autumn we have released version 0.6 of Hades that mainly frees finder methods from name prefixes entirely. Check the announcement or the reference documentation for details. In the beginning of September there will be a last feature release that will expand the functionality of executing finder queries into executing manipulating queries, too. If you like to check out a stable preview of this version, check it out in our Maven repositories.

German speaking readers might be interested in the article I wrote for JavaMagazin a while ago. You can find a PDF version of that article here. It should also be is also published as online version on the JAXenter website here in a few days.

How the Soul Power is dealing with the Greek God Hades .. or the name is not connected and have different meaning…In any case I found your profile so much interesting music and java .. very similar to one of my colleagues. I might come to Prag if time permits because I am very much interested in the DAO JPA Spring world in the current project where we implement all these technologies. Hope to see you in Prag. Many regards Mirsada

Hey Mirsada,

both terms are not that much interconnected as you might think. Soul Power arises from the idea that everything you do should emerge from a deep inner passion.

Hades aligns pretty much to a policy of my company to name products and tools we provide to the outside world after icons of the greek mythology. And as Hades is pretty much the god of the underworld (or basement if you like) this seems to be a good name for a library that adresses concerns of the underworld/basement of your application. Nevertheless the underwold metaphor is of course a little bit exaggerated in a funny way.

Would be cool to see you at TSSJS but don’t hesitate to even try Hades if circumstances don’t let you attend the event. We’re always open for ideas.

Regards,
Ollie
